How to Unlock Your iPhone With a SIM Card

 Your iPhone may be locked by your carrier. You may need to unlock your iPhone in order to use it on other carriers. Unlocking your phone means you can use it on any carrier, as long as you have a compatible SIM card.



 To unlock your iPhone you first need to call your phone carrier and find out which type of unlock they offer. If your phone is locked by your carrier because you forgot your passcode, you do not need to follow the steps below. 

If you have an iPhone you will need to find out which cell phone service provider it is with. The easiest way to do this is to look at your carrier's website and see if it offers an unlocked version. If your phone is still locked, you may have to visit a service provider store to purchase your SIM card. 

Once you have this you will be able to unlock your phone using your phone's SIM card. Before you start unlocking your phone, you will need to put your SIM card into your computer and make sure that your computer and your charger are powered up. 

You will also need a USB cable to connect your computer to your charger. This step is optional, however. You can skip this step and continue with the next step,

 if you so wish. You will now need to open the "Settings" application and find it under General. At the very top of the screen, you will need to click on the link that says "Cellular network." Click on the "Get SIM" link and then enter the telephone number for your phone in between quotation marks.

 After entering the number, click on the "Network Settings" button. This will bring you to the main page for your phone and it will also tell you what carrier the iPhone is on. If your phone is on an unlocked network, the carrier will tell you the SIM card it uses. On an unlocked network, the SIM card cannot be removed from the iPhone until the user has unlocked the phone.

 If your phone is on a locked network, the carrier will allow you to unlock it and use your existing SIM card. This step is optional and can help you get your unlocked phone working on a different carrier if you happen to move carriers or if you need to.

To unlock your phone you will need to insert your SIM card into your computer, turn on the power, press and hold the home key to connect your phone to the cellular network, and then wait for several seconds before the phone goes into lock mode. You can either turn off the phone or simply turn off the computer. After several seconds you will have to release the home key to unlock the iPhone
